Seismic Protection Systems

Seismic Protection Systems provide additional bracing required in earthquake zones to reduce the risk of equipment damage from seismic events. CPI can help you protect your equipment during the seismic stress of an 8.3 Richter scale earthquake. Seismic events continue to draw attention on a global scale, acting as a catalyst for ever-increasing building codes and certifications. Preparing for the next seismic event is especially important for data centers that cannot afford to be offline or are not backed up at a secondary location. To reduce risk and minimize equipment damage, seismic protection is necessary.

Chatsworth Products offers a variety of products to help protect critical equipment from damage during a seismic event. The Z4-Series SeismicFrame® Cabinet improves on CPI’s original Seismic Frame® Cabinet, which was introduced in 2001. The Z4-Series SeismicFrame Cabinet delivers a higher load rating, an increased range of cabinet sizes to support deeper equipment and more unobstructed interior space along the sides for thermal and cable management accessories.

Additionally, a variety of bracing kits are available for both cabinets and racks.

Benefits include:

  • Reduces risk of equipment damage due to seismic events.
  • Minimizes excessive motion that may cause undue strain on cable connections.
  • Increases chance of continued operations after seismic event.
  • Helps installations meet seismic codes.

Aisle Containment

CPI Aisle Containment Solutions are flexible, feature-rich products for both hot and cold aisle containment that offers superior airflow management, resulting in reduced operating costs. As manufacturers push the thermal envelope on servers and other critical IT equipment, cooling costs are on the rise. To counter this growth and reduce extraneous energy costs and power consumption, data center operators are increasingly turning to Aisle Containment Solutions to help optimize airflow, especially in those situations where cabinet-level isolation is untenable.

With built-in flexibility and high quality engineering, Chatsworth Products’ (CPI) Aisle Containment Solutions easily adapt to challenges such as limited ceiling height and complex overhead pathways, making Aisle Containment Solutions an excellent choice for both Brownfield and Greenfield applications.

Benefits Include:

  • Eliminates hot spots.
  • Supports 4x higher heat and power densities (6 kW to 30+ kW).
  • Effectively utilizes 100% of supplied air and reduce chilled air waste.
  • Improves CRAC efficiency because of higher supply-to-return temperature differences (Delta T’s).
  • Allows increased room temperature and higher set points on cooling equipment and chilled water temperatures, resulting in less electricity consumption using low-cost economizers.
  • Provide flexibility for supply air delivery through the ceiling, wall or floor.
